COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the deadly shooting of a teenager at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Family Development Center that happened Wednesday night.
Colorado Springs Police said Micahi Stacy Hughes, 22, is in custody and being investigated for first-degree murder. The department said the investigation was active and ongoing Thursday.
Police were called to the UCCS Family Development Center just before 10 p.m. Wednesday after a shooting was reported. By the time they got to the scene, the teenage boy had been taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The boy has not been identified at this time.
UCCS said Hughes is “not affiliated” with the university and that the Family Development Center will be open Friday.
